[Returning from the big city on the train, Kanji and Yosuke left a day later. They both wanted to spend some time there and had plenty of free time before school started again.
That's when Kanji, at one of their stops to get some food, noticed a poster. He ripped it off the wall and brought it over to Yosuke, who had a bag of food.]
Yosuke! Lookit this!
[It was a paired dancing competition, and the winner would get a massive cash prize and a television appearance.]
[He looked at the poster- Chie was in full training for the police testing, and Yukiko was working more and more at the inn. Teddie was.... Teddie, and everyone else no longer lived in Inaba with them. They were the only options]
Dude but this is like, REAL dancing. Not the free style stuff we were doing in the LMB show...
[They were already in the habit of training after school almost every day, after all. It being his senior year his dad had let him off the hook at work- said he 'needed to experience his high school days while you can'. With business booming and the town not hating them now he had plenty of part time help.]
I still gotta study for exams but- sure, let's do it!
[Things were finally starting to feel normal again. As normal as they really could, anyways. Neku hung out with his new friends regularly. Sometimes as a group, sometimes one or two at a time.
He'd been hanging with Beat a lot. Probably most of all- Shiki was still working things out with Eri. And while he liked Rhyme, being younger then them was a barrier.
So a lot of times it was just them. It was... nice. So today he was by the ramen shop, waiting to meet up, feeling... contented? He's not 100% sure HOW he feels]
[Hanging with Neku had been one of the best things in Beat's life. Not only had it really helped him chill and be more confident in himself, but Neku didn't expect anything but to just... relax.
And the more it happened, the more Beat realized he was... really liking his time with Neku. He loved it when they were all together again, but it was the best when it was just them.
Plus his stomach had started doing flipflops and he might be slow but he knew what that meant. Or, figured he did.
Which is why he was a little fidgety when he finally showed up at the ramen shop, plopping down into the chair opposite Neku.]
Sorry yo, fer bein' late. Kinda had to do some stuff last minute.
[It's just starting to shift from Warm to Hot outside, enough so that Neku has started wearing JotM jerseys and other things that seem to swallow his shoulders more often then not. But in here, while not cool, it's a least *dim*- a relief from the blazing sun.
Neku notices the fidgeting, and taps Beat's leg with his foot]
[Beat doesn't even feel the heat, mostly because he's a sun child and he's used to it, but also because he's almost uncomfortabley warm from thoughts anyways.
The touch to his leg almost has him shooting out of the chair, giving Neku a wide eyed look before scrubbing his face.]
Yeah bro, he good. Jus' thinkin' stuff that got him all jittery, you know?
Aight dude, stick wid me, it gonna sound weird. We blow this place fer now, go an' get some dogs an' nuggets, then we come back an' join 'em wid the ramen! Chilli dog ramen an' chicken nugget ramen!
