[Those two little words make Beat huff a little, cheeks turning pink as he turns his hand a little to take hold of Neku's wrist to squeeze back.

And he's going to keep this little hand hold, even as they hit the theater, Beat pausing to look at the movie names thoughtfully.]

[There's nothing really exciting right now, so eventually Neku points out something that looks kinda action-thriller-y.]

That looks like it might not be awful.

[He shoots Neku a grin and moves over to the kiosk to buy two tickets for it, and once instead he's going to buy them popcorn and sodas and all sorts of snacky stuff because he's got his appetite back thank you.]

Hey, looking enthusiastic is against my aesthetic.

[Said with just enough blandness. Though he's a bit pink at Beat buying everything]

[That'll make Beat laugh, piling things into Neku's arms so they can find seats.]

[He tugs on the collar of Neku's shoulder and play rolls his eyes.]

[Neku swats at his hand a little, without much fire]

I guess a little shopping would be okay. I'm not promising I'll wear anything though.

An' I promise not to tell Shiki yer goin' shoppin'!

[It's a tease, because they both know Shiki would be there in an instant.]

Yeah, please don't.

[He snorts to the response and his grin is hidden as the lights fall, previews over with.

Sometime during the movie he reaches over to find Neku's hand and folds his fingers in with his, the touch shy despite the confidence Beat had been showing earlier.]

[Hand holding in a movie is way more of a 'date' thing then anything else so far, so Neku can sympathize. His own palm is a little sweaty by a half hour or so in.

Still, he doesn't pull away. The movie is mindless enough (Neku predicts the ending less then 45 minutes in) that his mind can wander a bit. Thinking on what all this means. He had agreed to dating Beat mostly because, well, he had no reason NOT to- he knew he liked guys well enough long before they ever even met. But he didn't really think about dating, guys or girls.

But he felt... comfortable with Beat. And these shy touches make his chest flutter a bit. He doesn't know if that's what attraction is, but it's close enough in his mind for him to be enjoying himself. He can figure out the rest as he goes.

And well, it's Beat. He trusts that Beat won't hate him even if he fucks this up due to not really getting a lot of it.

With that thought in mind he squeezes Beat's hand while the main character on screen is yelling something about getting his ex-wife back]

[Well, she'd gone home and reassured Shizuku and the others that she was still alive, and now it was time to visit Zeroken's Netherworld.

'Visit' might not be the right word, but she hasn't told Zeroken yet that she's considering staying, if he'll have her. It'll be a surprise.

First thing was seeing his students, of course, who were curious about this weird human in their midst but friendly.]

You were right, Zeroken, they're cute as a button.

[...but children are also a little bit exhausting, so she's glad it's just her and Zeroken now.]

Heh, they are, huh?

[He has his hands on his hips, chest out. He hasn't grown any since they last saw each other, but there's a certain shine of very adult pride in his tone and in his eyes. Not the ego posturing he usually did, but the joy of a craftsman.

Though they can wear you out! Killia said he'd come down and teach them a few things soon but at this rate I might run out of training for them before he even gets here!

[His ears perk, and he bounces up on the balls of his feet to try and chase the kiss from his taller girlfriend]

Heh, well I guess it's good I have the best teacher, right?

[Her boyfriend is the most adorable.]

Someday the student will surpass the master. I have confidence in you.

[He snickers, bouncing back and forth on his feet. She sure knew how to flame his ego. He might be more mature now, but he was and always would still be Zeroken. And in that way he was very simple.]

So, you ready for dinner?

Of course, if it's your cooking.

[What girl doesn't like being spoiled by her boyfriend?]

I promise I'll eat everything on my plate even if I don't recognize the ingredients.

[...Netherworld cuisine can be something.]

[He laughs a little- humans were so squeamish, but after everything they went through he had learned long ago not to question it. Instead he sets to work]

It's not gonna be anything fancy. That okay?

[He wasn't an amazing cook- his food was simple, but hearty.]
