Honeymoon [route au]

 Alola.

It was... really something else, both compared to Johto and to Japan. Once upon at time he hand found the people in Johto too friendly, and now even they were demere in comparison to the Alolans. And everything was so bright, the air even tasted different. And that wasn't even getting into the pokemon.

Before, he would have found it all much too overwhelming, and honestly even now he was glad to have their hotel room to retreat to at the end of the day. But now he just wants to soak the place up. Though the REASON he's here is... so much more then the place itself. He glances over from his spot looking over the balcony to check on Nagi, fingers twisting the ring on his hand as the setting sun was casting everything into reds.

"Holding up over there?"

The last few days had been... exhausting, after all. In more ways then one.

He catches that lilt in his tone, but it doesn't bother him any. When it comes to their relationship, Nagi and Neku's has been...something of a very strange affair ever since its conception. For too long they had some sort of mutual connection, yet neither one of them would admit or actually act on it. But several years later and here they are, vacationing together, wearing matching rings to signify that they are- in fact- a couple.

It's a lot. But a good a lot.

Nagi's fingers tap briefly against his Gear some more before he follows Neku's gaze over to the Pikipek on the balcony.

"It's probably fine, for now. I'm not going to be against rare Pokemon coming right into our room."

Neku laughs softly. "We're going to go home with double the number of pokemon we came here with at this rate, you realize?"

Not that he had any room to talk, with how he was eyeballing the Meowths they saw in town after arriving.

"It's weird... It's been so long that I've gotten used to the pokemon we live around- so seeing so many new ones it's almost like coming here for the first time again."

[unkinder]

Nagi hums in agreement.

"Mmhm. It has been so long, but...it still is hard to believe that we live somewhere where Pokemon actually exist, now."

Maybe that's part of the charm Alola has. Everything just...seems so new, it's just as Neku says: it's like they've arrived all over again, except with less fear and confusion.

"I wouldn't worry too much about that, though. Neba and the others won't let me take home too many new ones."

[scratchitti]

"Maybe you can share some of that restraint with me. I'm not looking forward to filling out all the exotic breeder paper work if I end up bringing anything back that could lay eggs."

He rolls his eyes and rests his chin on Nagi's shoulder, giving in to some of the exhaustion of the day- only one day here and he was slightly burned and more tired then he should be this early... though not enough to actually sleep.

Nagi would have said something about how burned he is already, but he knows he can't help it. Neku would burn to a crisp in the shade just because his skin doesn't play well with the sun, especially not Alola's fierce sun.

Nagi puts his Gear in his lap in favor of reaching out to thread his fingers with Neku's.

"If you start up too many breeding projects after this, I might actually have to kill you so I'll have room to sleep in our own house."

"Ah, so that's why you married me. Insurance fraud after my death. I see." Said as he laces his fingers back in turn.

"Don't worry about it, I'd end up flooding the market if I did that and get in trouble." He doesn't battle as much as he used to- a lot of his fire for the sport tied too much with his rivalry with Nagi to interest him now that it was... well not over, never over. But not as all encompassing. But that just meant his passions were utterly devoted to his business and his art. For his age he had a nice little nest egg and expanding it was much more interesting to him on the day to day.

...though he still like to go and put the fear of Arceus into trainers with Nagi once and awhile.

It was funny. While Neku had buried himself in art and breeding projects, Nagi had just gotten more into training up his teams to be completely battle ready. Neku being his rival had been his initial motivator for a long time, but having a new challenge here in Alola put some fire beneath his team again. Of course, a lot of his team was going to consist of new Pokemon, too...he had a lot of figuring out to do, yet.

"Come on, you know the economy in Kanto, Johto, and basically everywhere else has always been completely broken. I don't think I need to worry about insurance when I could make money by winning it off other trainers."

[scratchitti]

"Then your murder plot is more personal. How romantic." He takes their laced hands, lifting Nagi's up to lightly kiss the back of it before letting it go so he can return to his game if he wants.

"But remember we ARE on vacation. You're doing stupid tourist stuff with me for at least a little of it."

[unkinder]

"Gross," Nagi replies, picking his Gear back up.

"But I guess I can put up with being a stupid tourist long enough for you to put up with me spending most of the day in the tall grass looking for Pokemon."

[scratchitti]

"I'll manage somehow." He snorts, going back to lounging, content to watch Nagi piddle about on the Gear for a bit. It was strange... they weren't really doing anything different then they did at home- and that didn't really bother him. But just watching Nagi tapping away in such a familiar way with that one change, that ring, was enough to make him want to bury his head in the pillows. It shouldn't be that big of a deal, their relationship hadn't really changed. But he still cant' really believe it.

He doesn't say anything, but has to look at anything else in the room for a moment- not the first time he has since they arrived, honestly. It was almost like he was fifteen again and super awkward.

Nagi found himself in a similar state. When they first started wearing their rings, he couldn't even look at his without having to stop what he was doing for a bit to recover. It's weird, that way...probably because he thought he'd die at 16 before anything like this ever happened. He still didn't know what he had to thank for dropping him in this world and giving him a chance at a normal life, but...as mundane as it could be, he wouldn't change it for anything.

For a while, the only sound in the room is the tapping of his Gear's buttons before he realizes that his red-faced partner is staring intently at a wall somewhere.

"Everything alright?"

"...everything is almost TOO alright. I know that doesn't make sense." He smiles awkwardly, his gaze flicking over at Nagi, eyes warm and a little terrified in equal measure.

[unkinder]

"To me it does. You forget where I came from," Nagi replied. "It's been years, but it still feels like something should be coming up."

[scratchitti]

"I do forget." He tilted his head, arching a brow. "Remember, as far as I know, you might as well have just appeared that day in the Game Corner." To Neku, the Nagi he knew and Nagi the Assassin were two different people.

"Still, we're here to relax, right?" He leaned over, slotting his body against Nagi's. Nagi wasn't wrong... though for Neku it seems more like either of them could just... disappear again. Even if the machine that brought them here was long disabled.

"This might be the first time we'll be able to sleep in without a hoard of pokemon wanting breakfast in the morning in years."

Nagi lets out a breath, an amused sort of sound as Neku leans against him. He and his team had a sort of reputation back home for what they did, but that was how they liked it. They weren't hiding anything, so coming to a place where he wasn't known for that was still weird for him, even after all this time.

"Assuming we don't forget to close the balcony and wake up with a dozen pidgey in our room wanting handouts."

[scratchitti]

He laughs, nuzzling into Nagi's neck. "Hmmm, kinda wanna risk it for all that sea air. It smells so fresh here."

He peers past Nagi, at the setting sun, the palm trees swaying in the breeze. "... though I don't want anyone hearing us in here." Though he didn't sound THAT worried about it.

[unkinder]

"Hearing us?" Nagi echoes, raising a brow at his partner. "That makes it sound like you're planning something," he teases in his usual, soft monotone. He can see that a lot of other neighboring rooms have the windows to their balconies open for the same reason Neku mentioned, so...it's probably not unusual to be hearing the chatter and noise coming from elsewhere throughout the night.

"Nothing specific." He shrugs, amused. "Just... well, in case we do decide to do anything." He kisses the side of Nagi's neck softly before sitting back up.

"... I could say 'unless that's what you're into' but I'm definitely not." He snickers at the idea.

[unkinder]

"No, I'm also definitely not. We'll have to close it later." Which is probably Neku's indicator that Nagi wouldn't mind if they did anything...wink.

[scratchitti]

That makes Neku grin, and he gets up- first instinct was to close the window, but he knows that might just make Nagi think he was going for it right now and well, they have all night, he's in no rush.

Instead he pads over to the mini fridge.

"Want anything?"

[unkinder]

Honestly, some days that would not surprise him, Neku...

He watches as he moves over to the fridge, and given Nagi's usual passiveness it's hard to tell whether his expression is relieved or not.

"Mm...just water is fine. Are you getting hungry?"

[scratchitti]

"I could eat."

Though mostly his mind supplies 'if you eat now you won't have to get up again to do it later. No interruptions' and he huffs softly. Neku never had much of a sex drive as a teenager- not really much at all until he and Nagi got together. And even now it's not strong exactly. But the atmosphere is feeding into his imagination.

Neku is certainly lucky that he didn't decide to forge a relationship with a telepath, or else he wouldn't have gotten away with that thought.

Nagi shifts, pressing his palms into his knees.

"We could go try one of those..." he stops, his expression blanking as he tries to recall what they actually were, "...malasadas."

[scratchitti]

That makes him perk up. "Oh yeah, I've been wanting to try one... I was worried they might be too sweet, but it's kinda one of those things you have to do in Alola, right?"

He pauses, pondering.

"That would mean we'd have to go out though."

[unkinder]

"We could always share one if it ended up being too much, I guess."

He knows his Pokemon would be more than happy to eat the leftovers too if given the opportunity, especially his glutton of a Raichu.

Nagi makes a face at the mention of having to go out, though.

"Tough decision. Weather going outside, or starve."
